Keeping Your Teen Safe on the Road

Jul 14, 2014

Having a teen driver can be a scary time for parents. Since you cannot always be in the car with your teen, make sure they remember these tips while behind the wheel.
  • Put down the phone. While it may be hard to ignore a text from your crush, it is important to remember that answering is not worth risking your life. If you have to send a text or talk on the phone, pull over to a safe area on the side of the road.
  • Limit your passengers. The more passengers in the car, the more distracted the river will be. Make sure your teen feels safe driving with others in the car, and make rules to make sure the passengers are not distracting.
  • Do not speed. Although your teen will probably want to get to their destination as fast as possible, make sure to remind them that they are much more likely to get into an accident while speeding.
  • Do not drink and drive. Make sure your teens are fully aware of the repercussions of driving drunk, from a DUI to possible death. Make sure they also know not to get into a car with a driver who has been drinking.
It is also important to make sure your teen is properly covered with the right auto insurance policy. Contact Gateway Insurance for all of your auto insurance needs in Vacaville, California.
