Our Agent Barbara Noll loves to travel with her husband, and they have made many trips to Cancun, Mexico and have explored many of the Mayan Ruins in the Yucatan Peninsula. She just returned from her last excursion in May. Barbara and her husband chose to explore the ruins at Ek’ Balam where she climbed to the top of the Acropolis and swam in the cenote that is nearby. Cenotes are freshwater sinkholes that are very, very deep, and were considered sacred to the Mayans. This one was crystal clear. Even with all the fish swimming below, the chance to swim in the refreshing water was too tempting for Barbara to pass up.
In the past the Nolls have explored Tulum and Chichen Itza and even climbed all the way to the top of the Temple there, about 15 years ago. Since it has now been declared one of the 7 wonders of the world, you are no longer able to do that, and she feels very lucky that she was able to do so. The next time Barbara goes that way, she wants to see the ruins in Coba so she will have more stories to share with her friends and family!
If you have any other places she should explore on her next trip, please feel free to comment below or stop by and share your story next time you come to the office!
